Just a day at the park

Yesterday was warm and sunny - a perfect day to go to the park! Mike took some really cute photo's so I was anxious to share them. Our friends Kirby, Megan and Jeff joined us at the park and the boys had a blast playing with the rocks and going down the slides.

Nick has such a blast on the slides. He has a slide and swing at Grandma and Grandpa Edwards house, so he knows the routine. The slides at the park were bigger, but he didn't care. Our shy and cautious little guy was zooming down those slides at warp speed! (For those of you who are Space Balls fans, it would be ludicrous speed instead of warp speed)...

READY! SET! GO!

Cutie pie - Jefferson - playing in the tunnel!

Takin' a little time out for a walk....

And finally, time for bed.....aaaaahhhhhh

Pumpkin Time!!!!! Woo hoo!!

Here are the photos of our pumpkin pickin day! We went to Heavenly Harvest, where we've gone the last 3 years with Misty, Staci, and Emily. Took the wagon out to the patch and picked out one perfect pumpkin out of thousands to choose from. Played with the water pump where you race ducks. Played with the corn cannon and with the new apple sling shot. Mike won on the sling shot! Played in the corn box with the dried corn (Nick decided this was the time he liked to eat his veggies...). Checked out the chickens that seemed really short in body length and then we found out it's because they peck at eachother and their tail feathers were missing. Okay, just an all around fun filled afternoon. Thank you Linda (owner of Heavenly Harvest and co-worker of mine) and family!

Mr. Personality

Nick is now feeding himself with a spoon. He tries with a fork, but can't stab the food yet. Not that he doesn't try! It's been amazing watching him change on a daily basis. From feeding himself very well to being a chatterbox. He says "all done" when he's done eating. He also says: ball, down, on, off, plant. I'll admit, the words aren't 100% clear and if you were a stranger you would think we were totally insane. But to us the words are perfectly clear!

Today, we are heading to the pumpkin patch. I'm really looking forward to taking Nick. They have a corn box, a corn cannon, a corn maze, duck races and of course the patch of pumpkins! In the meantime, here are a couple photos from the last few weeks.

What, is there something on my face?

Last weekend we went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium and met up with my cousin Shelly, her husband Jeff and their daughter Sydney. It was fun to see Sydney's reactions to the different creatures at the Odd Water Exibit. She is so cute and funny. I'm glad we had the opportunity to meet with them there.

Why yes, I am studly with a toddler on my back and beating me over the head with a shark toy.

Can you guess what Nick is doing? No - he's not in deep thought.....

Here's another hint....

I am so glad that I finally got a photo of the expression he gets when he's pooping. Poor Nick, we find him so entertaining at the most embarrassing moments. But the way he gets quiet and purses his lips together while leaning against the wall just cracks us up every time. When he was younger he'd get red in the face and grunt - yes we found that hilarious too. "Hey Nick, we're a little bored. Do you think you could poop for us so we can have a good laugh?"

I'll leave it at that....

Nick on the run

Gotta run, gotta play. And ooooh is this jogsuit comfy!

Thought I'd update you all with some September photos of Nick Knack! He is at the stage where he is a total sponge. He can identify his nose, lips, eyes, ears, hands and feet. He knows where his frog, bears, leopard and gumby are and will bring them to you when you ask for one. He's amazing to us at this point. You tell him what something is and then ask him "where's the hose?" (or something to that effect) and he will point to it. He's trying to repeat what we say and is doing pretty good!

Nick is totally about showing people his toys. Misty, Gary and the girls came over recently and Nick was obsessed with grabbing Gary's hand and taking him over to his toybox, like "so let's play man!" He did the same thing with our friend Wiatt a couple days later. Emily also kept Nick entertained for a LONG time by sitting and reading to him. Thanks Emily! Nick really enjoyed that!

I'm too sexy for this shirt!

Do you remember the time when my hair was wangin out? Yeah...that was pretty cool.

You mean I can drink one gallon of milk a day like Grandpa Edwards? Wahoo!

HAPPY AUTUMN!

Nick Unplugged

This is a video from late July when we were in Whidbey. Nick LOVES ice cream - I mean who doesn't? Anyway, we got a kick out of the messy face and his little tongue licking the ice cream. I've been trying to get a video to download to the blog for about 3 weeks now! So I'm sorry this is an older video, but it took me this long to decide to try to figure out how to post a video and then I ran into problems. It's a good thing I'm not the one working for HP... I could be their subject in videos of what not to do on a computer.

Nick Knack at age ONE!

This is going to be a fun filled update due to the many great photos we've recently taken - so enjoy! The Radio Flyer is from Uncle Brad - he's the best!

Playtime with the hose, Nick doused himself twice with the cold water and thought it was pretty funny.

Nick one year old August 14th - see all his teeth and the red mark on his head? This is what one is all about! Rough and tumble - he is a boy after all! And pretty darn cute, we think we'll keep him.

Nick has just gotten more and more fun! He's into telling you all about his day now. We can't understand a word he says, but we still play along. Nick is really having fun playing with his toys, his books are still his favorite, followed by his Little People farm and of course BALLOONS! Who knew balloons could be so entertaining?

Nick has also become quite the good little eater, and yes he is finally feeding himself. He'll even use a fork! He still loves his chicken strips the best, but now will also eat a pile of mandarin oranges, toast, strawberries and my homemade oatmeal cookies.

We finally had our first ear infection - a double! He had a fever of 101.6 and was totally lethargic. It was awful. Nick slept all day and night for about two days until he started feeling better. Then he caught the cold that Mike and I had, so he had a really runny nose and a cough. It was one right after another, not fun! But we are pretty lucky considering we dodged ear infections and colds for a whole year.

Nick at the park August 13th - one day before his birthday!

The Aquarium in Newport - August 10th... he had a lot of fun checking out all the stuff!

August 17th - Nick's Birthday Party.... Balloons! And they're allllll mine! Thanks Misty, Staci, Emily and Gary!

Nick's Party Guests - what an adorable and fun bunch!
